Proactive care, better outcomes
Another tool for Aussie vets
Stem cell therapy offers veterinarians a proactive, preventative tool to address conditions that could otherwise lead to costly, invasive surgeries. Elita Genetics collects and stores healthy stem cells from a patient’s fat tissue during desexing, giving them access to personalised treatments in the future. Unlike other stem cell therapies on the market in Australia, we offer access to autologous stem cell therapies, which have shown better results in global studies.
Global research driving stem cell advancements
Current applications & future directions in Veterinary
This study examines how stem cell therapeutics are advancing veterinary care, with applications in treating conditions from joint issues to organ diseases. Learn how this research is paving the way for more effective and personalised therapies for canine companions.

How donor age impacts stem cell potential
This study explores how donor age affects the ability of stem cells, isolated from horses of different ages, to differentiate into cartilage and bone. Findings align with human and mouse studies, emphasising the critical role of donor age in stem cell performance.

Evaluating Stem Cell therapy for canine Osteoarthritis
This study evaluates the safety and effectiveness of using autologous, or 'your own,' stem cells from adipose tissue to treat canine osteoarthritis. Results show this minimally invasive approach improves pain control, joint function, and synovial fluid quality, offering a promising OA treatment.

Globally Recognised
Stem Cells are globally recognised for their efficacy in treating conditions like osteoarthritis and joint pain, with some studies(shah) showing that up to 90% of treated patients experience improvements in mobility and pain management. Additionally, ongoing global clinical trials are exploring a range of other applications, including kidney disease and dermatological conditions.
Proactive measure
Stem cell banking is especially beneficial for larger breeds that are more prone to musculoskeletal issues, such as German Shepherds (hip dysplasia), Golden Retrievers and Labradors (osteoarthritis), and Great Danes (joint degeneration). By offering stem cell banking, veterinarians can provide these patients with future options for targeted, non-invasive therapies.
We make it simple
Collecting a sample is a simple process, undertaken during the routine desexing procedure by extracting a small sample of fat tissue. This simple, minimally invasive add-on procedure does not interfere with the primary surgery. Join the veterinary network today for your collection guide.
Integrating Stem Cell banking into your practise
Registration and Preparation
When a pet owner registers with Elita Genetics, they’ll inform you of their decision during an appointment. We’ll then contact your clinic to provide all the necessary collection details and address any questions. Once the desexing date is confirmed with the pet owner, we’ll handle the preparation and delivery of the collection kit directly to your practice.
Procedure day
We’ll confirm with your clinic 24 hours before the surgery to ensure everything is on track. The collection kit will arrive at your practice on the morning of the procedure. During the desexing surgery, you’ll collect a small fat sample following the provided instructions. Once the sample is collected, Elita Genetics will organise secure transport to our lab.
Process and store
Our scientists will process the sample to confirm it meets the necessary quality and quantity standards for future treatments. The stem cells are then securely stored in our bank, with regular quality checks to ensure their viability. The pet’s stem cells will be ready for use when treatment is needed.
Keeping pets healthy while empowering vets with advanced care options
"Having seen the effects of stem cell therapy overseas, I am delighted to finally have access to this revolutionary therapy in Australia. As veterinary care for pets progresses, we need more options for managing chronic disease like osteoarthritis, and stem cell therapy is a great option for older patients with comorbidities where traditional approaches may not be ideal."
